  • Highlands Co-ed Soccer

    We are pleased to announce the newest addition to the extracurricular activities offered at Highlands: Co-ed Varsity Soccer 

    The Highlands Latin School now has a Co-ed Varsity Soccer team open to girls and boys from 7th- 12th  grade. The team currently boasts 19 members ranging from 7th to 11th grade. The team is young, but is doing quite well; most members are relatively new to the sport and in grades 7-10th with one 11th grader. They are off to a good start so far with one tie and one loss, and quite a few more games to be played.

    Matthew Norton and Adam Singleton coach the team, and according to Norton, it is quite a bit of fun. Practices are usually composed of a warm up, with lots of passing drills and touching drills, followed by some 3 v 2, 4 v 4, 1 v 1 drills of various sorts. Rumor has it, that even during practices the students attempt to bring their classical studies outdoors by joking around in Latin.

    Though the team is new and quite young, Coach Norton believes that the team is already doing quite well, and the future years hold a lot of promise. Norton is confident this season will go well, and that the team as a whole will continue to grow and mature together in the following years.

    So come out sometime this season and cheer on the Highlands Varsity Soccer Team as these players prepare for their first season ever. If you have any questions concerning the team or schedule, please contact either Coach Norton or Coach Singleton.

  • Basketball Update

    The Highlanders Varsity basketball team will be participating in the KCAA All A State Tournament this weekend at MICAH Christian School just off Poplar Level Road. Please come support the boys as they represent HLS.

  • “C” Team Brings Home Championship

    Congratulations to the 4/5th grade “C” basketball team. They brought home the championship trophy from the Whitefield Academy tournament in early December.

  • HLS Basketball Tournament Dec 16-17th at Southern Seminary

    The Varsity Boy’s Basketball team will be hosting their 3rd annual New Years Invitational at Southern Seminary. The tournament will run from 4pm Dec 16th until 8pm Dec 17th. Eight teams from the KCAA will participate. HLS will play Trinity (Lexington) at 5:30pm Friday. Tickets are 12 dollars and cover all 12 games of the tournament. Please come support the Highlanders.
